Join us for another year of hiking and painting in the Babine Mountains Provincial Park, supported by the BC Parks licence plate program!

Highlights:

  • Learn basic Acrylic painting skills

  • Stay in a alpine cabin with costs covered and a friendly hike in

  • Get hiking tips, local info and more from your host ( and everyone else!)

  • Find your creative inspiration with beautiful scenery and supplies already brought up for you!

  • Eat lots of wild berries

Hike up as a group, and paint the scenery with a local artist Sarah Belford and make connections with new folks and the beautiful alpine landscape. Hosted at the Joe L’Orsa cabin, you’ll be sleeping inside a beautiful log backcountry hut with warm wood stove, bins to keep your food safe, an outhouse and incredible alpine views.

This guided overnight hike led by a professional local artist and passionate outdoors person offers participants the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature and unleash their creativity while getting local info and tips for hiking.

During the plein air painting event, you will be led through a lesson of basic acrylic landscape painting skills to get a feeling of how to use the tools, and then you are free to create on your own! Sarah will be around to give tips and insights while you work.

Whether you're a seasoned artist or a beginner, this event welcomes all abilities. Sarah takes great inspiration from the Babine's and has done many paintings of the area, join her in a unique class setting to find your own inspiration from the area, or simply come and enjoy some time with friends creating art in the mountains. Hike up together as a group and create new friendships, paint the landscape around the basin or beyond, and come back to the warm, spacious cabin to eat and socialize together. With an overnight stay, you can paint when you like, see the light change on the mountain, and wake up to a relaxing alpine setting and hike out at the end of it all. September is the perfect month for hiking, with lovely temperatures, very little bugs, and changing alpine colours.

You will receive an email a couple of days prior to the event with all the recommended packing, hike details, event schedule, directions, weather forecast and more!
